The Director of Communications and Public Engagement provides strategic vision and leadership for all communication and public engagement efforts at the Central Carolina Community Foundation. This newly established role is critical in enhancing the Foundation’s visibility, reputation, and influence across the Midlands region. Reporting directly to the President and CEO, the Director collaborates closely with senior leaders to develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy, effectively telling the story of the Foundation and the community it serves. The Director will execute a wide range of communications and media strategies to engage, educate, and inspire diverse audiences.

Job Description:

As Advertising Sales Manager with the Electric Cooperatives of South Carolina, Inc., you will have the opportunity to work with our passionate team at South Carolina Livingmagazine to deliver quality content to its 1.9 million readers.

The Advertising Sales Manager will be responsible for cultivating relationships with customers, setting advertisement space prices, making sure ads are delivered at the right time, billing customers, analyzing sales processes, and making suggestions for improvement.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in advertising, business, communications, or marketing.
  • Seven to ten years of print advertising sales experience.
  • Competency in customer service.
  • CRM experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to adapt to changes while maintaining productivity.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and keep up with multiple projects and multiple project deadlines with minimal supervision.

The faculty of the School of Visual Art and Design at the University of South Carolina, Columbia campus, invites applications for a full time, professional-track instructor position at the rank of Instructor to begin August 16, 2025. The position is a 9 month appointment with a teaching load of 8 courses for the academic year. An additional administrative appointment opportunity with this position may extend the position to an 11-month appointment and a 3/3/1 load with the inclusion of responsibilities to manage the Design Studio and the Design Print Lab. The instructor position and the administrative appointment are annual appointments that may be renewed contingent upon Dean’s approval, satisfactory performance, departmental needs, and the availability of funding.

Additional courses taught by this position include introductory courses in design technology foundations and typographic design. New courses in entrepreneurship and business strategies for creatives could also be developed.

Students undergo a portfolio review before admission into the program, pursue internships, and have a capstone experience before graduation. Students in the program regularly win awards and recognition with the American Advertising Federation, AIGA, Creative Quarterly, and more. The GD+I program has an engaged student body and five full-time faculty who teach courses in motion, interaction, interface and experience design, augmented reality, design with AI and machine learning, product and packaging design, typography, branding, systems, traditional illustration, drawing, and digital illustration. Designers and illustrators in our program understand the objects and interactions we create are part of larger systems and that we have responsibilities as message-makers. The Marketing Coordinator for the SC Education Lottery (SCEL) will play a key role in developing and managing external communication initiatives that will enhance our brand and engage our target audience. This position will focus on SCEL’s Beneficiaries, specifically the Lottery’s Scholarship Ambassador Program (higher education), will serve as a general ombudsman, and support our creative team with the printing and packaging of marketing materials that are distributed to our retailer partners.   

RESPONSIBILITIES

BENEFICIARY COMMUNICATIONS

  • Gathers and organizes recent and historical beneficiary data from other state agencies, making this information available for internal or external (public) use.
  • Develops and manages the Lottery’s Scholarship Ambassador Program, which identifies and recognizes citizens that have benefited from educational initiatives funded by the Lottery.
  • Maintains and expands our database of beneficiaries to use in various communications, marketing and advertising initiatives.
  • Works with our creative team to develop and edit compelling content for various platforms, including social media, SCEL’s website, newsletters, and press releases.

OMBUDSMAN:

  • Provides customer support to our players, via phone calls, mail, email, or website submissions.
  • Collaborates with applicable SCEL departments to accurately, quickly and professionally address customer inquiries; Maintains draft responses for frequently asked questions.

OTHER/GENERAL:

  • Assists the marketing department in various different disciplines, including the printing and packaging of marketing materials, execution of marketing plan and fulfillment of sports and event sponsorships.
  • Performs any other duties or assists with special projects, as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or other related field(s), with 1-3 years of prior, relevant work experience. 

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

The Marketing Coordinator must: (1) Have strong written communication skills, with knowledge of proper punctuation, grammar and sentence structure; (2) Have strong verbal and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and concisely; (3) Present themselves in a professional manner, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, while dealing courteously and effectively with others; (4) Maintain the highest level of confidentiality; (5)  Be detail oriented, especially in regards to the organization of figures and dates; (6) Have a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook, and (7) Have the ability to balance multiple projects.
