Congratulations to the 2019 AAAward Winners!

COLUMBIA, SC – AAF of the Midlands hosted its annual American Advertising Awards gala on Saturday, February 16 at the Columbia Art Museum. More than 30 awards recognizing exceptional work in advertising were presented to advertising professionals and students in the Midlands.

AAF of the Midlands holds the yearly competition as part of the American Advertising Federation’s American Advertising Awards, the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition. The awards embody the true spirit of creative excellence by recognizing advertising in all forms and media from entrants of all levels around the country. As a chapter of the national organization, the AAF of the Midlands American Advertising Award winners will move on to compete at the district level and then in the national competition.

Advertising professionals and students from across the Midlands submitted nearly 150 entries into the local competition. AAF of the Midlands recognized winners in a variety of categories and honored overall winners for print, interactive and broadcast media:

  • Best of Broadcast – Chernoff Newman for “Roots,” created for the South Carolina Department of Agriculture
  • Best of Print – Richland Library, ACCESS Magazine, Issue 002
  • Best of Integrated Media – Cyberwoven, Columbia Museum of Art Website

The Best of Show award was given to Chernoff Newman for “Roots,” created for the South Carolina Department of Agriculture.

The Student Best of Show award was given to the Garnet & Black Staff for the Garnet & Black 2018 covers.

The three-judge panel also awarded “Special Judges’ Awards” to entries which they felt deserved additional recognition for their excellence in creativity, originality and strategy.

Special Judges’ Awards:

  • Adams Outdoor Advertising for outdoor billboard “Recycled Art Contest,” created for Port Royal Sound Foundation
  • dustoftheground for “Dedication to Education, Allison,” created for the South Carolina Department of Education
  • University of South Carolina for “President’s Mini Conversations.”

Special Judges’ Award: Local Media

  • WACH FOX for “Bonded Loan Offices”

Student Special Judges’ Awards:

  • Collin Morvay, Steven Tapia, Keylan Hanna & Fred Dao for “Welcome to The Warmouth.”
  • Julia Linthicum for Beers and Bait Beverage Packaging

The Mosaic ADDY Award is given to an entry from any category that best exemplifies a spirit of diversity and inclusion.

At the event, the attendees are invited to vote for their favorite campaign in the People’s Choice Awards
